Your Journey

Bnei Midbar (Children of the Dessert)

School Years 3 - 5

This symbolises the pioneers that went to Israel and from small beginnings helped make the desert bloom.

With our youngest age group we focus on expanding their knowledge on the Jewish people's history and traditions in order to deepen their own identity within the Jewish community. We educate our participants in a way which will create an interest in the state of Israel.

G'lilim (The Galil)

School Years 6 - 7

This represents the first Olim (immigrants), who moved to the Galil region to help pioneer the land.

With this age group we educate the participants in a way which enables them to feel connected to the living history of the State of Israel. We do so in a pluralist environment which enables the participants to be critical and to form their own opinions. We expand on the social skills which are encouraged with the younger age groups through giving them a sense of responsibility within the movement.

Chashmonaim (The Maccabees)

School Years 8 - 9

The Chasmonaim were the sons of the Maccabees, a small group of rebels who fought for freedom and liberty against the Greeks.

With this age group we provide a deeper educational journey, allowing our participants to form their own opinion and challenge those of other people. We intend to find a connection between the young people we work with and modern Israeli society.

Kanaim (The Fighters)

School Year 10 - 11

The Kanaim were deeply religious strong willed people who fought against the Roman Empire.

With this age group we help change the values taught by Hanoar Hatzioni into principles for living. We encourage individuals to foster independence and responsibility, especially through being involved in voluntary work within the community.

Manhigut (Leadership)

School Year 12

After returning from Israel Tour Manhigut is when the experience and training is gained before the shikva (group) become madrichim (leaders) within the movement.

With this age group we run an extensive leadership training course lasting one year. Sessions take place monthly and on weekend seminars; andonce the course is complete the participant can qualify as a Hanoar Hatzioni leader where they will engage with Chanichim in weekly activities and on residential camps.

Hashara (Preparation)

School Year 13

After being a Madrich of the movement during the year this Shikva then prepare themselves for their future. It is here that we promote our Shnat Sherut (Year of Service) programme where our members can engage with Israeli society on many levels. There are also a number of Madrichim that do not participate in this year in Israel and therefore we aim to keep them involved in the movement in a different capacity giving to the communities that they live in.

From here our Madrichim develop and are challenged to engage with our ideology and fully immerse themselves in the movement through our Moetsa (AGM) and other events.
