Bnei Midbar (Children of the Desert)

IMG_2511

School Years 3 - 4

This symbolises the pioneers that went to Israel and from small beginnings helped make the desert bloom.

With our youngest age group we focus on expanding their knowledge on the Jewish people's history and traditions in order to deepen their own identity within the Jewish community. We educate our participants in a way which will create an interest in the state of Israel.

G'lilim (The Galil)

School Years 5 - 6

This represents the first Olim (immigrants), who moved to the Galil region to help pioneer the land.

With this age group we educate the participants in a way which enables them to feel connected to the living history of the State of Israel. We do so in a pluralist environment which enables the participants to be critical and to form their own opinions. We expand on the social skills which are encouraged with the younger age groups through giving them a sense of responsibility within the movement.

Chalutzim (Pioneers)

School Year 11

Having spent every summer holiday on Hanoar's amazing camps, our year 11s are given the most amazing opportunity to spend a whole month touring the land of Israel, with their friends our best leaders and a group of Israeli kids the same age from our partner villages.

During the month the tour will take them from Jerusalem to the Negev, from Tel Aviv to the Kinneret all the while soaking up the atmostphere of their surroundings. Much like the pioneers they are named after the group will spend nights and days out in the wilderness, building rafts, cooking for themselves and finding their way, whilst taking well needed restbites in youth hostels across Israel's evocative cities. Take a look at what our Israel Tour has on offer.

Manhigut (Leadership)

School Year 12

After returning from Israel Tour Manhigut is when the experience and training is gained before the shikva (group) become madrichim (leaders) within the movement.

With this age group we run an extensive leadership training course lasting one year. Sessions take place monthly and on weekend seminars; andonce the course is complete the participant can qualify as a Hanoar Hatzioni leader where they will engage with Chanichim in weekly activities and on residential camps.

Havtacha (Commitment)

School Year 13

After being a Madrich of the movement during the year this Shikva then prepare themselves for their future. It is here that we promote our Shnat Sherut (Year of Service) programme where our members can engage with Israeli society on many levels. There are also a number of Madrichim that do not participate in this year in Israel and therefore we aim to keep them involved in the movement in a different capacity giving to the communities that they live in.

From here our Madrichim develop and are challenged to engage with our ideology and fully immerse themselves in the movement through our Moetsa (AGM) and other events.
